The “Over the Hill Gang” is a group of (over the hill) instrumentalists and singers whose primary mission is to bring joy to the hearts of people through music, laughter, fellowship, and love. The band was founded in April 1999 by Earl Rushing to entertain seniors living in assisted living and nursing facilities. While that group remains the focus of our mission, over the years we have extended our reach to include elementary schools, church groups, community seniors’ organizations, and even a county fair.
Our repertoire includes gospel, old time favorites, western, patriotic, and special event music. Special events include Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Veterans’ Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Memorial Day, and Independence Day. Our director, Marian Gordner, takes great care to tailor each pro-gram to the specific audience and occasion.
We typically perform between thirty and forty times per year predominantly in the southeast Houston/Galveston area. The band is a volunteer organization, but we gladly accept donations to help offset our equipment maintenance and operating costs.
